About the Visiting Author

I am Valerie Rivera, otherwise know as VA Rivera, located in Westchester, N.Y.

My poetry workshops focus on enhancing language skills among elementary-age children. Now a retired Language Arts teacher, I am poet and author. My mission is to foster a love for reading and writing poetry; making reading and writing poetry an enjoyable experience for all.

I believe playing with words can unlock creativity, enhance understanding, and build confidence. With 30 years of educational experience, I am dedicated to empowering young minds through poetry and poetry books, with activities focused on reading and writing.
