My Philosophy

I believe all creative writing, including poetry, enriches and nurtures children, teen, and adult minds.

When I wrote and memorized my first poem, My Cat Marshmellow, for a class assignment in elementary school. It was then that I discovered my love for creative writing.

I taught elementary grades and ENL for Islip Schools on Long Island in New York State. My 30-year teaching career showed me how well children's language learning benefits from examining, discussing, and writing original poems.

Now I am writing books, I wish I had had the opportunity to teach poetry during my teaching career. As a children's author, I combine my passion for poems with my skill as an educator. My goal is to help children learn an appreciation for the beautiful art form of poetry.
